Teen Volunteers

All teen volunteers, 14-17 years of age are required to complete the Healthy Relationships for Teens 2.0 online training program through VIRTUS® prior to volunteering for ANY ministry.

This safe environment training is specific to the teen's needs. It consists of seven modules and will take a total of 45 minutes of engagement.

At no time will a teen volunteer have any unsupervised interaction with any child or with any vulnerable adult, even following the completion of this training. They must always be under the supervision of an adult who has Safe Environment clearance (has a current background check/fingerprint screening and has completed the Protecting God's Children for Adults training).
 

VIRTUS® Portal

The Diocese of St. Augustine (DOSA) implemented a paperless process, via the VIRTUS® Portal, for all your Safe Environment information, including your completion of the Healthy Relationships for Teens 2.0 training.

Every individual is responsible for the maintenance of his/her own safe environment information. In order to do so, you must have, or create, a VIRTUS® account.

In order to register (create a new account) or update your existing account (returning user), go to the DOSA VIRTUS®/Protecting God's Children Training Overview web page.

Read/Print Instructions - Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the appropriate VIRTUS® Quick Link to read and/or print (recommended) the instructions you will need.

• If you are registering with VIRTUS® for the first time (i.e., creating an account), read/print Instructions for New Teen Users (ages 14-17).
• If you already have a VIRTUS® account, read/print Instructions for Returning Users.
  • Follow the directions for recovering your User Id and/or Password if you don't remember what these are. DO NOT create a new account as this will introduce duplicates into the system, none of which will contain complete information.
  • If you do not remember whether you have an account, please contact the St. Joseph's Safe Environment Coordinator listed at the bottom.

• Follow the directions provided in the document. At the VIRTUS® site, complete all the information requested or make any updates.
• Make sure you enter/update your name. You must use your legal name.
• It is important that you enter an accurate address, phone number and email address.
• Select Teen User as your primary role. Add this same role for all locations where you are a teen volunteer. When volunteering in one of our parish ministries, please select St. Joseph Parish (Jacksonville) as the location.
• Complete the Youth Code of Conduct.
• When ready to exit the portal, make sure to Logout . If you do not do this, the information you entered may be lost.
