The Divine Mercy House Mission is
• To promote the women’s choice to give life to her unborn baby and establish an environment wherein that choice may be realized;
• To facilitate personal educational success to enhance the mother’s ability to achieve financial independence;
• To teach new skills that will carry the women for life, outside the Home;
• To develop self-esteem, strong character and spirituality leading to better life-style choices and breaking the cycle of crisis pregnancies.
Since its’ inception in 1999, Divine Mercy House has served over 75 women, averaging around six to ten per year. The staff of Divine Mercy House recognize that each woman who enters the house is unique, and each situation is different. We work hard to meet each individual need and tailor the program to fit each woman; therefore there is no hard and fast rule on length of stay. On average the women who complete the Divine Mercy House Program stay six to eight months after their babies are born, which ensures they will be well ready to care for themselves upon departure from the house.
The Home is a respect life ministry of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mandarin, but operates off of its own separate budget, making donations and volunteers an integral part of the mission.
Open to women of all faiths, it provides a loving and nurturing environment to meet the physical, spiritual, emotional and educational needs of each mother and her child resulting in a solid foundation of goal setting and strong moral values for their future well being. Divine Mercy House staff helps to coordinate the care of each pregnant woman and her unborn child, while also helping the young woman develop a life plan leading to a successful future for mother and child.
