This year’s Lenten parish mission will be presented by Fr. Brian Mullady OP. The theme of the mission is
Conversion of Heart and Growth in Prayer. Fr. Mullady will preach on how conversion of heart is the foundation of growth in the depth of prayer. He will use the great spiritual authors like John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila and Thomas Aquinas. The mission will occur daily beginning on Monday, April 3
rd through Thursday, April 6
th and consist of a morning and evening session. Both sessions will be composed of the same talk. The morning session will take place at the conclusion of the daily Mass in the Historic Church. The evening session will consist of a Mass in the Main Church, beginning at 7:00p.m. in which Fr. Mullady’s homily will be the mission talk. Confession will be available each evening once Mass has ended. A love offering will be taken up on Thursday in support of Fr. Mullady and the work of the Dominican Order. Below is a brief biography of Fr. Mullady.
Fr. Brian Thomas Becket Mullady is the son of an Air Force officer and was raised throughout the United States. He entered the Dominican Order in 1966 and was ordained in Oakland, California in 1972. He has been a parish priest, high school teacher, retreat master, mission preacher and university professor. He received his Doctorate in Sacred Theology ( STD ) from the Angelicum University in Rome, Italy and was professor there for six years. He has taught at several colleges and seminaries in the United States. He is currently a mission preacher and retreat master for the Western Dominican Province. He also teaches two months of the year at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT. He has had twelve series on Mother Angelica's EWTN television network. He is the author of four books and numerous articles and writes the Answer column in
Homiletic and Pastoral Review. He is also designed as an official Missionary of Mercy by Pope Francis for the Year of Mercy.
